Mission Statement

Hands on Haiti is a Christian-based nonprofit organization dedicated to serve the people of Haiti through Church of God Philadelphia Haiti, whose ministries encompass established churches, a boys' orphanage and Christian school. Recognizing the dignity, worth, and potential of each Hatian person, Hands on Haiti strives to demonstrate God's love for them by being a conduit through which support flows. It seeks to help Church of God Philadelphia Haiti maintain and expand vital programs through active, hands-on participation. Its primary efforts are focused on, but not limited to, the boys' orphanage and Christian school. Hands on Haiti endeavors to provide for the children's spiritual, physical, emotional, and educational needs, giving them hope for a productive future.

Who We Are

Hands on Haiti is an all-volunteer Christian-based nonprofit organization. Most of who are serving Hands on Haiti are members of Hidden springs Church, a non-denominational church in Howell, Michigan. Hidden Springs Church has supported Pastor Michael Dijuste as a "national" missionary for more than 20 years. Every year Brother Michael, as we fondly call him, comes to visit his contacts here in Michigan. While visiting, Brother Michael shares his ministry's news and needs with us. Through his sharing, God has placed a special burden upon our hearts to become involved with Brother Michael's ministry in a tangible way.

A few of us have ventured to Haiti to see for ourselves the needs of the orphanage and churches. We were able to get a glimpse of the overwhelming difficulties Brother Michael faces on a daily basis...conditions so extreme, most Americans wouldn't even be able to imagine them. Haiti has the poorest economy in the Western Hemisphere and has experienced many years of political upheaval. The infrastructure is a mess, electricity infrequent, phone communications unreliable, and water quality poor in most places. Most of the country is incredibly filthy, a giant cesspool of disease-carrying bacteria.

Brother Michael faces these overwhelming obstacles every day. If he has ever written you a letter, it was handwritten, and most likely written by candle light. Because of these obstacles, it has been impossible for him to incorporate as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ministry here in the United States. It has been difficult for him to generate enough support over the years because of this fact, and also maintain his existing contacts. His ministry has grown over the years, but his funds have diminished.

Hands on Haiti has been formed to generate funds and serve as a "donation passthrough" for Brother Michael's ministry, Church of God Philadelphia Haiti. By taking over his fund raising activities, it will relieve Brother Michael of much stress so that he may better serve the people God has placed in his care. Hands on Haiti is especially committed to be a Voice for the children under his care, particularly the boys' orphanage and Christian school.
